Travellers have welcomed the introduction of cash machines capable of giving out funds in foreign currencies, according to one expert.
There are currently a number of ATMs available in UK shops and supermarkets that provide cash in euros and US dollars, offering another way for holidaymakers to obtain foreign currency before jetting overseas.
Graham Mott, head of planning and development for cash machine network Link, said that consumers seem to "like the idea of this".
He added that some
airports may choose to install similar machines with a view to providing a wider variety of currencies in the future.
"I would have thought that euros or US dollars would be the most common ones; beyond that it would be quite specialist. Perhaps a machine in an airport would be able to have a range of currencies," Mr Mott commented.
Tesco Personal Finance recently announced plans to extend its foreign currency ATM trial from four machines to 20, placed in Tesco branches in locations such as Gatwick and
Glasgow.
