Travellers looking to visit
China this summer might be interested to hear that the city of
Shanghai will be holding a festival especially for them.
The Shanghai Tourism Festival is one of the highlights of the city's event calendar and seeks to showcase its history and culture through a number of shows, displays, parades, markets and more.
Running between September 15th and mid-October, the event will kick off with a spectacular opening ceremony parade comprising about 20 floats, each representing the culture of a different region while being cheered on by thousands of onlookers.
Other events taking place as part of the month-long programme include the Music Fireworks Festival at Century Park, the Chinese Festival at You Garden and a special demonstration of the traditional rose wedding ceremony.
Away from the festival, visitors to
Shanghai will be able to take in stunning views from the city's skyscrapers, check out a host of exhibitions with the new citywide museum pass scheme and shop to their heart's content at various malls, markets and boutiques.

Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission website.
