Holidaymakers flying from
Manchester Airport this summer have been urged to remain patient with any delays caused by extra security checks.
The hub is working with police to control any passengers who vent their frustration on staff and other passengers through drunken, violent or anti-social behaviour at the airport or on flights.
Officials have said that any travellers who cause such problems could face a fixed penalty notice or be prevented from boarding a flight.
In order to minimise such issues, holidaymakers should ensure they get to the airport in plenty of time and stay patient as staff undertake the extra security checks required at all UK hubs, they added.
"We are working hard to make this process as easy for passengers as we can by encouraging everyone to check the restrictions before they arrive at the airport, through teams of specially training customer service advisors and by employing additional security staff and opening new screening facilities," commented Mike Fazackerley, head of security at
Manchester Airport.
Earlier this week, the Association of British Travel Agents said that up to two million travellers are expected to head
overseas this weekend.
