Business class airline Silverjet has announced it is delaying the launch of its second service to
New York.
The carrier said that technical issues meant the flights between
Luton Airport and New York Newark have been put back until September 20th and that passengers booked on the new flights can be rebooked onto the existing service or obtain a refund.
Lawrence Hunt, chief executive of Silverjet, said that he was "disappointed" by the delay but noted that the maintenance work to resolve the technical problems is being undertaken during the annual quiet period for transatlantic business travel, potentially minimising disruption.
"Forward bookings are proving that our second service will build upon this and be hugely popular with customers, due to the greater choice and flexibility of flight times available," he added.
Earlier this month, another premium class airline,
Eos Airlines, announced the opening of a new departure lounge at
Stansted Airport.
