Heading to
New York this September? Why not take the opportunity to attend the biggest parade in
North America and experience a colourful
Caribbean carnival in the process?
The West Indian Carnival in Brooklyn takes place every Labor Day, which will fall on September 3rd this year.
Millions of people are set to line the streets of
New York to watch an entourage of West Indian dancers, musicians and other performers make their way through Brooklyn in their full costumed glory.
Spectators are able to enjoy a variety of Caribbean food and drink from stalls and other outlets throughout the day, while related activities and events take place throughout the weekend across New York.
The carnival also includes the J'Ouvert pre-dawn festival, where revellers don cheap and cheerful costumes and play steel drums from 02:00 local time as a precursor to the main event.

West Indian American Day Carnival Association website.
