Edinburgh Airport has experienced "very strong growth" over the last year, according to managing director at the hub, David Johnston.
Commenting to the Edinburgh Evening News, he cited 16 new services that have been established in 2007 and a further 12 that will start later this year as evidence for this development.
"We know passengers want to be able to fly direct from Scotland's capital and it's great to see they are making the most of the choice and variety of destinations on offer," he told the publication.
"We are extremely busy, but our key priorities remain security, safety and service."
Congestion at peak times has been eased due to a newly-opened security search area on the ground floor of the terminal, he added.
The hub indicates that an average of over 24,000 passengers a day used the Scottish capital's airport during the last year.
Destinations that passengers using Edinburgh Airport can reach include
Paris,
Madrid and
Prague.
