Birmingham Airport witnessed positive passenger figures in July, according to acting managing director at the hub Joe Kelly.
Overall, the airport handled 963,564 passengers throughout the month, which was an increase of 0.8 per cent on the previous year.
Mr Kelly said that families jetting off at the start of the summer holidays were partly responsible for the positive figures.
"Birmingham has a wealth of sun destinations to visit and proudly boasts Cancun, Corfu, Dominican Republic,
Dubrovnik,
Dubai,
Orlando and
Sharm El Sheikh to name a few," Mr Kelly added.
Destinations that witnessed growth in charter traffic included
Malta,
Egypt,
France and
Germany.
In total, charter passengers made up 34 per cent of the overall airport traffic, while scheduled passengers accounted for 66 per cent.
Last month, Birmingham was awarded the Airports Council International award for Europe's best airport in the category of five to ten million passengers.
