The Camp for Climate Change protest at
Heathrow Airport will "hopefully" not result in delays for passengers using the hub, according to a BAA official.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Simon Baugh, head of government relations for Heathrow Airport, said that officials were hoping passengers would not experience any adverse situations as a result of the protest, which began on Monday.
He noted that the last weekend has seen travellers spend no longer than ten minutes in security queues at Heathrow and said he hopes this will be the case during the rest of this week.
"We have been working very closely with police and our security team to try to make sure that we are prepared for any circumstances in which the protestors take direct action," Mr Baugh commented.
Matthew Robbins, a protester at the
climate change camp, told BBC Radio 4's PM programme today that any plans for direct action on Sunday - the last day of the protest - would be aimed at BAA and government policy regarding a proposed third runway, rather than at holidaymakers.
