First Airbus A380 flight set for October

Singapore Airlines has confirmed that its new Airbus A380 aircraft will make its debut on October 25th this year.

The airline said that it had formally agreed a delivery timetable for the massive double-decker plane, which will seat 471 people in total across its economy, business and first class cabins.

Passengers onboard the first historic flight of this aircraft will travel from Singapore to Sydney, with a return flight planned for October 26th.

"Everyone at Singapore Airlines is keenly anticipating the delivery of this new plane and our people are working hard on final preparation for its entry into service," commented Singapore Airlines chief executive Chew Choon Seng.

"The first flight promises to be one of the most exciting occasions in aviation history."

Extra space and fuel efficiency are among the most noted features of the Airbus A380. About 165 orders have been made for the aircraft to date, including those from Emirates, Qantas and Thai Airways.
