Flights not affected by protest, says BAA
The ongoing climate change protest at Heathrow Airport has not disrupted flight operations, according to BAA.
A spokesman for the airport operator said that it was "reasonably relaxed" over the protest, which saw the Camp for Climate Action protestors settle in a car park at the hub overnight.
While the BBC has reported that BAA office workers have been asked not to come in today, no negative effects have been reported in terms of passenger flights.
Police officers are on standby with riot vans, according to the Press Association. The protest began last Monday and built up to 24 hours of 'direct action' on Sunday, with the car park blockade resulting in a number of arrests.
Protestor numbers amounted to some 1,000 on Sunday but have since dwindled to between 100 and 200. The campaign is expected to draw to a conclusion at noon today.
