Innovation in
inflight entertainment is one of the main priorities for
Virgin Atlantic, a spokesperson for the airline has said.
The carrier's V-Port system, which offers some 300 hours of video on-demand, is "very popular" and the airline is "always adding new things", she said.
She added that offerings such as all inclusive entertainment and meals are among those options that help to differentiate traditional airlines from
low-cost carriers which charge extra for such amenities.
"You can also pre-book your seating online so there are a number of options that you can do before you actually travel," the spokesperson commented.
A number of airlines have sought to boost their inflight offerings in recent years as consumer technologies become more popular.
Emirates, which has won numerous awards for its entertainment provisions, last month announced the launch of a digital widescreen version of its ice system.
The new system boasts the largest inflight widescreen display in the world and a new USB capability that allows passengers to plug in their cameras and view their holiday snaps while in the air.
