Scandinavian carrier
SAS has launched its first direct flights from
London City Airport to
Oslo in
Norway.
Taking place yesterday, the launch means that passengers can now choose from two flights a day between the two destinations, with seats in business,
economy and premium economy class cabins available.
The airline already flies to the Norwegian capital from
Heathrow Airport and SAS UK and Ireland general manager Lars-Ove Filipson said that the new service will particularly benefit business travellers.
"SAS' new London City route to Oslo is the next logical step following the positive performance of the London City to Copenhagen and Stockholm services," he commented.
"These routes have proven exceptionally popular among London business travellers, especially those working in the Canary Wharf and City districts."
The new service is being operated by SAS Braathens on 82-seater Avro 70 aircraft with four jet engines.
Earlier this month, the airline announced a nine per cent increase in passenger traffic for July, with 3.6 million travellers using its services.
