German airline
Lufthansa has announced plans to launch a new flight between
London City Airport and
Berlin, according to reports.
The non-stop service will begin on January 14th 2008 and will take place twice a day, flying to and from Berlin-Tegel Airport through Lufthansa partner Eurowings, reports TravelDailyNews. From next summer, the new service will depart three times a day.
This launch will increase Lufthansa's London City Airport flights from 66 to 78 a week once it has taken place.
"With Lufthansa's new non-stop service, Europe's emerging conference and exhibition metropolis, Berlin, is now just around the corner from London's financial district and the perfect destination for this speedy new service," commented Marianne Sammann, UK and Ireland general manager for
Lufthansa.
Earlier this month, the carrier introduced a new inflight amenity kit designed specifically for children travelling in its long-haul first and business class cabins and announced that top US chef David Bouley will create menus for
premium passengers during September and October.
