August passenger rise for British Airways
British Airways has announced a 5.3 per cent increase in passenger traffic for August compared with the same month last year.
The carrier said that it carried almost 3.1 million passengers around the globe last month, with 14.8 million travellers in total choosing to fly with the airline in the last 12 months.
Passenger load factor was also up by 1.8 per cent compared with August 2006, British Airways revealed.
"Market conditions are broadly unchanged. Point-to-point premium travel continues strong and is offsetting weak transfer demand as these passengers continue to avoid Heathrow," the airline commented.
British Airways recently confirmed that its operation of the BMED franchise will end on October 27th, when a codeshare with bmi will begin in its place.
Passengers with BMED bookings for after this date that were made before September 4th can rebook their flight if any schedule changes mean that minimum connection times are affected.
