The premium flight market is a "dynamic" and "innovative" one, according to a spokesperson at the British Air Transport Association (BATA).
Neal Weston says that people will always pay for extra legroom and that there is still a market for business passengers due to a range of "slightly different" products available to passengers.
"By premium we are talking about business and
first class," states Mr Weston.
"The market has changed over the last 20 years - certainly in Europe but not necessarily in transatlantic or international flights where premium and business is very important to carriers."
He adds that there are a number of business-only airlines which operate from London hubs. The spokesperson also suggests that London to
New York and London to
Frankfurt routes generally have a high proportion of business travellers.
According to a YouGov survey commissioned by BATA last year, 72 per cent of the UK's population fly at least once annually.
