UK airline
bmi has said that it is intending to introduce a new daily non-stop service between
Heathrow Airport and
Tel Aviv next year.
The airline said that it is now able to apply to offer the service due to successful negotiations between the governments of the UK and
Israel.
If the carrier is successful with its application, passengers will be able to fly from London to
Tel Aviv with bmi from next spring, adding to the current service operated by
British Airways.
"The opportunity to be part of the growing business links and ties between the UK and Israel is extremely exciting, and we shall look forward to playing our part in widening the competitive air links between the two countries and the economic growth that this has historically achieved," commented
bmi chief executive Nigel Turner.
Last week, the airline announced the expansion of its mid and
long-haul schedules with the addition of a number of new destinations.
It has also recently announced that it is to launch a new flight between
Birmingham Airport and
Madrid through its bmibaby service.
