Thinking of
flying to Berlin next month? Why not make your visit coincide with the spectacular Festival of Lights between October 16th and 28th?
This event sees thousands of spectators flock to
Berlin to see a number of fireworks displays, performances and illumination shows take place across the city, with the opening night set to bring the amazing sight of the Berlin TV Tower completely covered with glowing blue lights.
Special Lightseeing Tours involving colourful illuminations take place during the evenings, while the weekends bring a plethora of unique events, such as the Night of Open Doors on October 20th, where participating buildings host a variety of special events right up until midnight.
In addition, retail therapy addicts might be pleased to hear that the Long Night of Shopping - said to be the largest shopping festival in
Germany - will take place on October 27th to allow visitors to shop as much as they want until the midnight hour.
Of course, there is much more to see and do in
Berlin in between events - you could immerse yourself in the rich history of Germany at the Brandenburg Gate and what is left of the Berlin Wall, or visit the Muggelsee, a unique inner-city lake.
