Holidaymakers are set to be able to take advantage of a range of new foreign currency
cash machines announced by Halifax this week.
The bank said that travellers will be able to withdraw euros and US dollars using their Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards from ATMs in London Cannon Street, London Strand, London Fleet Street, Basingstoke, Chester, Dumfries, Southampton and Windsor by the end of the year.
A machine has already been installed at Halifax's London Old Broad Street branch in the City district.
There is zero per cent commission on these foreign currency withdrawals, with standard cash withdrawal rates applicable, depending on the bank that issued the card.
"Our customers have told us that the immediate availability of foreign currency would be a valuable addition to the wide range of services we already offer and we plan to roll out more of these multi-currency ATMs in the near future," explained Nigel Turkington, head of travel money at Halifax.
Earlier this year, Graham Mott of ATM network Link said that the introduction of foreign currency cash machines in the UK is a "good development" for travellers.
