Delta Air Lines has announced plans to launch a new service between
Edinburgh Airport and
New York.
The new non-stop flights will begin on May 1st 2008 and come as part of a major expansion of the airline's operations at New York's JFK Airport.
In total, the carrier will launch 14 new international routes next summer and is set to improve timings and frequencies on a number of other services to hep passengers connect with their flights more easily, it said.
"Our expansion in New York will build on the value Delta customers already enjoy with daily non-stop service to five continents from JFK, but will also meet this growing demand with a strategic plan to help alleviate chronic delays and congestion before another peak summer travel season," commented
Delta chief executive Richard Anderson.
Other airlines that fly to
New York from Edinburgh include
American Airlines,
KLM and
Air France.
