Austrian Airlines has announced that it will be launching a new service between
London City Airport and
Vienna next month.
The double daily flights will begin on October 29th and will fly direct to Austria's capital city, giving passengers an alternative to the carrier's current services from
Heathrow Airport, which run five times a day.
Departing on weekdays at 10:25 GMT and 20:00 GMT Mondays to Fridays, the new flights will be operated via newly converted Fokker 70 aircraft.
"We welcome Austrian Airlines ... to our growing network of popular European destinations," commented Richard Gooding, chief executive of London City Airport.
"Vienna is one of the farthest routes that can be reached from our Docklands hub and provides an ideal gateway to Eastern Europe and beyond."
Last month, it was announced that German carrier
Lufthansa will launch new flights from London City Airport to
Berlin in January 2008.
The service will run twice a day and will land at Berlin's Tegel Airport, it was confirmed.
