Swiss Air has announced plans to launch a weekly flight between
Manchester and
Geneva later this year.
Beginning on December 16th, the new service represents the first new direct Swiss route from Manchester since the airline added
Basel to its schedule earlier this year.
The new
Geneva flight will take off on Sundays at 09:40 GMT, arriving in
Switzerland two hours and ten minutes later. The return service will depart at 12:30 local time.
Gregor Koncilja,
Swiss Air country sales manager for the UK and Ireland, commented: "Leisure travellers looking for a ski holiday or extended city break can now escape conveniently and directly to Geneva, whilst enjoying the services of a top quality airline."
He added that
business class seats and services will also be available for those flying from Manchester.
The carrier recently announced changes to its fuel surcharges for passengers travelling on its intercontinental and European flights.
Travellers flying with Swiss Air on
long-haul routes must now pay CHF 134 (about £56) per flight, while the charge for each European flight is CHF 34 (£14). Domestic flight surcharges remain unchanged.
