Virgin Atlantic has announced that it is to launch the world's fastest check-in service when it opens its new Upper Class Wing at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3.
From November 2nd, passengers flying from
Heathrow Airport in Virgin's Upper Class cabin will be able to benefit from a dedicated
security channel designed to get them on the plane as quickly as possible.
The Upper Class Wing will see passengers able to give their check-in details to their driver before stopping in a dedicated arrivals area at Heathrow. They will then be welcomed by an airline host and taken through the check-in procedure before walking through a lobby area styled like a hotel into the security channel.
This will enable travellers to pass from the limo to the
lounge in less than ten minutes, the airline said, as the fast-track service will result in them ending up a short walk from the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse.
"Our new Upper Class Wing will enable our business passengers to fly through check-in, whizz through security and lounge in the Clubhouse," commented
Virgin chief executive Steve Ridgway.
"It will be a fast, efficient and stress-free experience, which will save precious time at the airport. It will be very quick and refreshing for our travellers, compared with other airlines."
Economy and
premium economy passengers will also benefit from a similar service later this year, when Virgin launches a new dedicated check-in area as part of an overall £1 billion investment in the terminal by BAA.
Virgin offers a range of long-haul economy and
business class flights to destinations around the world, including the
USA,
Africa, Asia,
the Caribbean,
Mauritius and
Sydney.
