Overall flight punctuality in the UK fell between April and June this year, new figures have revealed.
According to the latest statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), punctuality at the ten
airports examined in its report fell from 72 per cent in 2006 to 68 per cent this year.
However,
Stansted and
Luton airports saw scheduled flight punctuality increase to respective rates of 73 and 67 per cent.
Stansted also experienced the same average delays as last year, while Luton's average delay time fell by one minute.
The CAA also found that some of the most popular scheduled routes for UK travellers - including those to
New York,
Dubai and
Los Angeles - reported a punctuality rate of less than 55 per cent.
Meanwhile,
flights to Tenerife saw the best on-time performance for chartered services at 72 per cent, as well as the lowest average delay at 19 minutes.
Last month, the CAA published findings from a passenger survey indicating that 58 per cent of UK air passengers - equivalent to 137 million travellers - flew from a
London airport in 2006.
