The most popular destinations for gay and lesbian holidaymakers have been revealed in a new survey.
Carried out by Community Marketing (CMI), the 12th annual Gay and Lesbian Tourism Survey showed that
London is the top location for gay travellers internationally, with
New York being the most popular destination in the
USA.
Other favourite lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) international hotspots included
Puerto Vallarta,
Paris,
Vancouver and
Montreal, while some of the most voted-for American destinations behind the Big Apple were
Las Vegas,
San Francisco and
Los Angeles.
"For years, London has consistently marketed itself to the LGBT community," commented Martine Ainsworth-Wells, marketing director of Visit London.
"In addition, the city supports its active LGBT community and has welcomed high profile events such as Pride and the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival."
Upcoming gay and lesbian events around the world include the Kouros Splash and Smash Tournament in
Eindhoven, the Pride festival in
Buenos Aires and the Turku Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in
Helsinki.
