Singapore Airlines has won the title of Best Long-Haul Airline at this year's Guardian Travel Awards.
The carrier, which recently made headlines when it became the first airline to use the new
Airbus A380 aircraft on a commercial route between
Singapore and
Sydney, held on to the accolade after also winning it last year.
Emirates was also honoured as 2007's Best Business Airline, beating
Virgin Atlantic and
Lufthansa, while
Edinburgh was chosen as Favourite UK City for the eighth year in a row and
Hong Kong won the Favourite Overseas City title after also winning last year.
Meanwhile, the award for Favourite European Country went to
Switzerland, with
Cambodia pipping
Vietnam to the title of Favourite Long-Haul Country as a result of gaining particularly high scores, despite relatively few voters visiting the nation.
Over 13,500 Guardian readers voted for their favourite organisations and destinations in the run-up to 21st awards ceremony in
Seville on Sunday.
