UK airline
bmi has announced that it is to scrap a number of flights between
Heathrow Airport and
Inverness from November 7th until February 6th.
The carrier said that a total of 19 services between the two destinations would be cancelled in order to account for changes in demand during the winter, the BBC reports.
It stated that while it may be able to utilise smaller planes for some flights with reduced winter demand, others would have to be completely pulled from its schedule, as is the case with the Heathrow-Inverness services.
"Passengers affected by the changes have been notified and been offered either a full refund or alternative flights," a spokesperson for bmi said.
Currently, passengers flying from Inverness can benefit from scheduled flights to
Gatwick Airport,
Belfast,
Dublin and
Southampton, among other locations.
Over the last few months, the carrier's bmibaby service has launched a number of new flights between destinations in Scotland - such as
Edinburgh and
Aberdeen - and
Manchester.
