German carrier
Air Berlin has this week launched its new route between
Stansted Airport and
Munich.
The flights run twice a day at 08:20 and 19:15 GMT Monday to Friday and once a day on Saturdays and Sundays from
Stansted, representing the eighth direct connection to
Germany for the airline.
Travellers can use the flights to connect to other Air Berlin services to destinations in
Spain,
Portugal and
Switzerland, among other nations.
"Air Berlin is firmly established as one of the market leaders in the low-fare airline industry and we're delighted to see them extend their connections into Germany," commented Nick Barton, business development and planning director at Stansted Airport.
Last month,
Air Berlin announced that it had seen a 21 per cent rise in passenger traffic during September compared with the same month last year, representing the carrier's biggest increase for the year so far.
