Lufthansa's UK general manager Marianne Sammann has suggested that the airline is looking to expand the number of routes out of
Edinburgh Airport.
Following a visit to the Scottish capital, Ms Sammann indicated that there could be developments over the next 18 months, reports the Scotsman.
According to the publication, the company is considering a new flight to one of the German cities of
Dusseldorf or
Munich.
"There are no immediate plans to expand in Edinburgh over the next few months or so, but it is something that is definitely on our radar," Ms Sammann told the newspaper.
"We have a number of options, but we will be deciding whether it would be best to increase our
Frankfurt flights to four a day, or fly to another place in
Germany."
Earlier this year, managing director of Edinburgh Airport Richard Jeffrey said that the hub was aiming to meet the demands of "ever-increasing" passenger numbers.
He said that safety, security and service are "key priorities" of the whole airport operation.
