Gatwick Airport has won the title of Favourite British Airport following a survey of newspaper readers.
The Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers awarded the accolade to the hub at the Association of British Travel Agents convention in
Tenerife after it received 30,000 votes. Other airports in the running for the title included those at
Manchester and
Birmingham.
This award comes shortly after Gatwick scooped the Best UK Airport accolade at the Travel Bulletin Awards and the title of Favourite UK Leisure Airport at the British Travel Awards earlier this year.
"It is always an enormous pleasure to receive any accolade, but when it's been chosen by the people who use our terminals, it is all the more rewarding," commented Andy Flower, managing director at Gatwick Airport.
Last month, a new
executive lounge was opened at the hub, featuring a bar, PC and Wi-Fi access, and television facilities.
