Travellers will be able to take advantage of new flights between
Heathrow Airport and
Tel Aviv next year, it has been announced.
British airline
bmi has said that it is to launch a new daily non-stop service between the two points on March 13th 2008, with tickets going on sale this week.
The announcement came after the UK government successfully concluded talks with the Israeli government, helping to pave the way for the new flights.
Chief executive of
bmi Nigel Turner said the launch represented "tremendous news" for the airline.
"Tel Aviv is a key destination in the Middle East and its addition further enhances our ever-growing network of destinations in an area of economic growth and development," he added.
Last month, bmi announced plans to launch a new route to
Dammam in
Saudi Arabia from Heathrow Airport during the first few months of 2008.
