Surprising new research has found that a number of travellers who head overseas on a
ski holiday never actually take to the slopes.
A total of one in six holidaymakers to ski resorts never head to the piste, with almost a quarter of northerners found to never put their skis on, the survey by moneysupermarket.com revealed.
The price comparison site also found that eight per cent of those travelling from
London never have a go on the slopes.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, commented: "The apres ski spirit is an important part of most ski trips, but it's surprising how many holidaymakers now go for the good times alone and never set foot on the slopes."
Recent research by the Post Office suggested that destinations in eastern Europe are among the best for those looking for a low-cost ski holiday.
It found that
Bulgaria,
Romania and
Slovenia can be significantly cheaper than more popular locations in terms of ski equipment and resort costs.
