Icelandair has announced plans to up capacity on its route between
London and
Reykjavik.
The carrier said it intends to increase the Heathrow service to two flights a day from summer 2008 as part of widespread changes to its North Atlantic schedule - including the addition of
Toronto as a destination and the scrapping of services to
Baltimore.
It also stated that it will continue to provide
flights to Reykjavik from
Manchester and
Glasgow airports next year.
"We have expanded considerably over the past few years, so the focus in 2008 is on making adjustments to our network," commented Jon Karl Olafsson, chief executive of
Icelandair.
The airline also offers a number of non-direct flights from
Heathrow Airport to
Boston,
New York,
Washington,
Minneapolis-St Paul,
Orlando and
Halifax.
Last week, Icelandair announced that 30 per cent of its passengers now use
self-service kiosks at its
Reykjavik base to complete check-in procedures.
