Holidaymakers expecting to travel over the
Christmas period have been given a number of tips to help them do so without disruption.
According to officials at
Stansted Airport, it is a good idea for flyers to pack as much as possible into checked-in luggage rather than hand luggage.
In addition, any presents should not be packed wrapped in paper as security inspections may require them to be unwrapped.
The airport also stressed that Christmas crackers are not allowed into any luggage, as they usually contain objects that are forbidden onboard flights.
"Around a million people are expected to travel through Stansted over the festive season and it's vital that our passengers follow some simple tips before leaving home to help them on their journey through the airport," commented Mark Murphy, customer service director at
Stansted.
Stansted is the third busiest air travel hub in the UK, with more than 23.9 million flyers passing through its gates every year.
