Tenerife is set to be the most popular sunshine destination for travellers flying from
Manchester Airport this Christmas.
Officials at the hub said that flyers looking for a little warmth over the festive period will also flock to
Alicante and
Malaga, while many of those jetting further afield look set to travel to
Las Vegas and
Dubai.
Meanwhile, Britons seeking a short Christmas break away are most likely to fly from Manchester Airport to destinations such as
Paris,
Rome and
Bergen.
The airport also indicated that it looks set to see over half a million people pass through its gates between December 21st and January 1st, with December 22nd set to be the busiest day.
"Manchester Airport is gearing up for the Christmas rush as passengers start their journey home or to visit warmer climes for the festive season," the hub said in a statement.
The first phase of a new
redevelopment at Manchester Airport's Terminal 1 - a mezzanine food and bar area - was opened earlier this year.
