A second
Airbus A380 plane has been delivered to
Singapore Airlines, it has been announced.
The news comes three months after the carrier's first A380 was delivered before starting service between
Singapore and
Sydney on October 28th.
According to the airline, the delivery of further aircraft following the first A380 will pave the way for the introduction of three daily flights between
Heathrow Airport and
Singapore during the first three months of this year.
The A380 is the world's largest passenger plane and features
fuel-efficient specifications, engines that emit less noise than any other large aircraft currently in service and the ability to seat 525 passengers across three different cabins.
Tickets for the first commercial A380 flight were auctioned on eBay, with the proceeds going to various charities.
Singapore Airlines launched its new "class beyond first", Singapore Airlines Suites, on this first flight.
The new cabin provides a private enclosure for each passenger containing a leather seat, a standalone bed, a 23-inch screen and a gourmet
menu.
