The most popular destinations for travellers flying from
Heathrow Airport are largely the same as they were two years ago, an airport spokesperson has said.
New York,
Paris and
Dublin are currently the top three destinations for the hub, followed by
Amsterdam,
Frankfurt,
Edinburgh,
Hong Kong,
Los Angeles,
Dubai and
Glasgow.
Spokesperson Damon Hunt said that the list had stayed "fairly static" over the last two years and noted that over a third of Heathrow's passengers do not even leave the airport due to being transfer customers.
"Heathrow is different from a lot of smaller airports like Gatwick and Stansted. It's ... a hub, so people use it to fly internationally and to get to other destinations," he explained.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, almost 70 million overseas visits were made by Britons last year.
Non-US
long-haul destinations saw the highest rate of growth in 2007, the organisation said.
