A new route between
London City Airport and
Berlin-Tegel has been launched this week.
Operated by
Lufthansa, the new service consists of two flights a day between the two destinations and represents the fifth German city that is now accessible from the airport.
The launch of the flights - which are the quickest currently available between the two points - was celebrated in spectacular style with a burlesque show at London City Airport.
"Both business and the leisure travellers will now have a speedy city-to-city connection to either take advantage of Berlin's growing function as an exhibition hotspot or to just discover its cultural attractiveness," commented Dr Karsten Benz, vice president of sales and services, Europe, at
Lufthansa.
Earlier this month, London City Airport announced that it had a record year in 2007 in terms of passenger traffic, with more 2.9 million passengers using the
airport in the last 12 months.
