Travellers using
Manchester Airport will soon be able to view its
historic Concorde aircraft in a brand new "super hangar" and visitor centre.
Work on the £1 million complex will begin this spring and is expected to be completed in July. The facility will showcase the former
British Airways supersonic plane, which has been at the airport for the last five years.
Currently, the plane is housed in Manchester Airport's Aviation Viewing Park, which attracts some 250,000 visitors a year and has even seen couples hold their wedding ceremonies onboard the aircraft.
"The hangar will not only protect Concorde for future generations to enjoy, but it will also provide a great day out for the thousands of people we expect to visit in the future," commented Andrew Holl, operations director at
Manchester Airport.
Manchester Airport recently won the
title of Best Regional Airport at the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards 2008.
