British Airways has announced that it is boosting its flight schedule to destinations in
Brazil.
From October 26th, the airline will increase its
flights to Buenos Aires from
Heathrow Airport to a daily service, while it will fly non-stop to
Rio de Janeiro instead of going via
Sao Paulo - making the flight time two hours shorter.
The carrier also announced a number of changes to its other winter services. The frequency on its route between
Gatwick Airport and
St Lucia will rise to three a week and will become non-stop instead of travelling via
Antigua.
Meanwhile, British Airways' codeshare agreement with
Caribbean Airlines will include these new
St Lucia flights in addition to four
Barbados services a week.
Commenting on the Brazilian flight changes,
British Airways commercial director Robert Boyle said: "Rio is traditionally a leisure destination but business travel to the city, particularly in the energy sector, is rising.
"Non-stop flights mean more available seats on the route and faster flight times."
Earlier this month, the airline announced the addition of new
flights to Hyderabad from Heathrow Airport from October 27th. It is also set to launch a new subsidiary airline, OpenSkies, which will operate services between
Europe and the
USA.
