Flyers have been advised that Runway 2 at
Manchester Airport will close for three weeks next month.
The runway will be unavailable between February 5th and 29th to allow workers to undertake routine engineering work.
As a result, all
flights from Manchester Airport will make use of Runway 1 during this period. According to the airport, these three weeks come during one of the quietest times for air travel.
No delays are expected to arise as a result of the work, Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Cornish explained.
"We're firmly committed to maintaining our high levels of service to both passengers and airlines and are mindful of the impact on the community," he commented.
Last week, the airport announced plans to house its
historic Concorde aircraft in a new £1 million "super hangar" and visitor complex that is expected to open in July.
