German carrier
Lufthansa has announced the launch of a new daily
flight to Hamburg from
Birmingham Airport.
The new route will come into operation on March 31st and will take off from Birmingham at 08:15 GMT, landing in Hamburg at 10:55 local time. Meanwhile, the return service will depart at 07:00 local time and arrive in Birmingham at 07:45 GMT.
Hamburg is located on the Elbe and Alster rivers and is thought to be the greenest city in
Germany, as nearly half of the metropolis consists of woods, parks, waterways and other green spaces.
It is home to 31 theatres, six music halls, ten cabarets, 50 state and private museums and 4,000 restaurants. The Baltic Sea is located about one hour's drive from the city.
"As well as offering our Birmingham passengers quick and easy access to Germany's second largest city - Hamburg city centre is just 20 minutes from the airport - the service also increases the availability of onward connections as Lufthansa continues to develop Hamburg as a mini-hub to central and eastern Europe," commented Marianne Sammann of
Lufthansa.
