A significant increase in investment at
Glasgow Airport will bring an "exciting" 12 months for the hub, it has been claimed.
Commenting on plans by BAA to boost capital spending by 50 per cent in 2008, Glasgow Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said the increase would help to transform passengers' experiences at the airport.
The skyhub extension at Glasgow Airport, to be completed later this year, will bring a wider variety of shops, restaurants and bars to the hub, as well as improved security and other
facilities.
In addition, passengers at the airport will be able to benefit from other improvements such as new flooring and extra seating, traveldailynews.com reports.
"When it opens in nine months' time, skyhub will transform the experience for passengers using Glasgow Airport," Mr Dewar stated.
"This investment underlines BAA's commitment to Glasgow Airport - and to the west of Scotland - for the long-term."
Mr Dewar also revealed that the secondary runway at the airport, which sees less than one flight a day, is set to be closed to provide more funds to invest in staff and terminal improvements.
Last November, the airport announced that it was to invest £500,000 in new drop-off facilities for passengers arriving by car.
