When you think of musical festivals, Dubai is unlikely to be the first location that springs to mind - but that could change once you experience the hugely popular Desert Rock Festival.

Taking place at the Al Sahra Desert Resort on March 7th and 8th, this event brings together some of the biggest names in rock and metal to create the ultimate guitar music festival.

This year will see Korn and Muse headline the Desert Rock Festival, with more performances from the likes of Machine Head, Velvet Revolver, Marky Ramone and As I Lay Dying also scheduled - and more bands are set to be confirmed in the next few weeks.

Previous years' headliners have included Iron Maiden, Robert Plant, Megadeth and The Rasmus, making this one of the biggest events of its kind.

In addition to the live music, visitors to this Dubai festival can also get temporary tattoos and haircuts in the style of their favourite stars for the full rock experience.

The Al Sahra Desert Resort is located about 30 minutes from the centre of Dubai and is set in the middle of 40 million square feet of desert terrain.
