Passengers intending to fly from Terminal 4 at
Heathrow Airport today (February 20th) have been advised that ongoing problems with the facility's baggage system may prevent some from taking their luggage overseas.
The issue came to light yesterday when a software problem caused the terminal's baggage system to crash. Passengers were asked to choose between flying without their bags or waiting for staff to fix the system.
However, a spokeswoman for BAA told Bloomberg that luggage is today being sorted by hand and that "there are no problems at the moment", although there may be issues as flyer volumes increase throughout the day.
Yesterday, BAA issued a statement urging travellers to check with the relevant airline before departing for the airport, as well as to reconsider the amount of luggage they intend to take.
British Airways is the main airline that currently uses Terminal 4.
