British Airways has announced that it is increasing the fuel surcharge on its long-haul tickets from February 25th.
From this date, passengers taking a
long-haul flight lasting fewer than nine hours will be required to pay a surcharge of £53, or £106 for a return flight.
Flyers on services where a single journey lasts more than nine hours will pay £64 for each flight, or £128 on a return ticket.
However, the current fuel surcharges for short-haul tickets - £10 for a single journey and £20 for a return flight - will remain the same.
"The decision reflects continuing high oil prices," the carrier said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a document filed with the US department of transportation and made public this week has revealed that the first route to be operated by British Airways' new OpenSkies airline next year will run between
Paris and JFK Airport in
New York.
