Plans to label airlines according to how
environmentally-friendly they are would have little effect on passengers.
That is according to the Mott Macdonald Group, which said that too many other factors determine which airline a passenger chooses to fly with.
Among those factors is price and Laurence Price from the organisation said that this will always play a key role in air travel.
"Customers are always going to be governed by a whole range of things. Some of it will be price, some of it will be destination, some of it will be down to schedule, frequency, aircraft type, quality of service, whether they are in the frequent flyer programme and the nature of the airline," he commented.
"It will only be those people who are extremely focused on this issue who might just do what they do when they are buying a fridge, car or television," continued Mr Price.
Eco-labelling among airlines was proposed by a House of Commons treasury select committee last month.
