All flights operated by
American Airlines from
London will shortly move to
Heathrow Airport, a spokesman for the carrier has confirmed.
Speaking to the Dallas Morning News, Tim Smith of
American Airlines from
London said it will shift all flights currently operated from
Gatwick Airport to Heathrow in April.
The airline presently runs services from Gatwick to
Dallas Fort Worth and
Raleigh-Durham, as well as
flights to Boston,
Chicago,
Los Angeles,
Miami and
New York from Heathrow.
Mr Smith said the carrier will complete the shift to Heathrow once the open skies pact between the European Union and the
USA comes into effect at the end of March, which will result in an array of new flights operating from the London hub.
"Other airlines are in the process of announcing new flights to Heathrow and switching some of their London capacity in that direction," he explained.
"All these things came together on this decision."
