Some ten million travellers have passed through
Luton Airport in the last 12 months, it has been revealed.
According to the airport, the figure represents a record number of passengers in its 70-year history.
It cited the launch of over 40 new routes and a number of new airlines making use of the airport as the main reason for the growth.
Most notably,
premium-only airline
Silverjet operates a range of double-daily
business class flights to New York and daily services to
Dubai from Luton Airport. It has also opened a
lounge exclusively for its passengers at the airport, offering dedicated security and check-in services.
"Luton Airport, managed by TBI, has multiplied its passenger traffic by five in the last decade and is one of the most important airports in Great Britain in number of passengers and routes in service," the airport said in a statement.
