The
Maldives,
Bangkok,
Vietnam, the
USA and
Australia are among the most popular destinations for
honeymooners, according to one expert.
Most newlyweds tend to opt for a "hot and exotic" location to holiday in, with the Maldives being perfect for sun-soaked beach breaks, while other destinations in south-east Asia are generally perceived as ideal for more
adventurous couples, Francesca Moore of hitched.co.uk said.
She explained that all couples have different preferences, meaning that while the white beaches and sparkling waters of the Maldives may be the best option for some, others are likely to prefer going on an American road trip or undertaking deep sea diving in Australia.
"An adventure safari in the deepest bush of Africa spotting a lion or two in the morning and then heading back to a luxurious five-star spa retreat for the rest of the day suits some couples down to the ground," Ms Moore stated.
"Everyone is different and your honeymoon can be as unique as the two of you are."
Last year's World Travel Awards saw the
Caribbean hotspot of
St Lucia win the title of the world's best honeymoon destination.
