A deluge of culture in Budapest
Travellers wanting to get a fix of continental European culture this summer might want to head to Budapest for the annual Danube Carnival.
This popular event runs from June 14th to June 22nd and features a variety of dance and music performances at venues across the city, including Vorosmarty Square, the Margaret Island Open Air Theatre, Budakalasz, Urom, Obuda and Matyasfold.
Visitors to Budapest can expect to take in shows ranging from traditional Hungarian folk and contemporary dance to brass music and performances by artists from around the world.
The highlights of the event look set to include the Carnival Gala at the Margaret Island Open Air Theatre and the Carnival Procession on the Chain Bridge. Most of the shows are free - perfect for those on a budget.
While in Budapest, why not check out one of the city's famous thermal baths, visit one of its many museums or explore the historic Castle District?
Take a look at the website of the Danube Carnival for more information.
